New York Times Crosswords

June 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I would like to cover some new popular puzzle game, New York Times Crossword, in Nintendo DS. It is best-seller in Amazon.

It doesn’t get much better than this. Not only do you get over 1000 New York Times crosswords, you also get a great interface and a variety of play modes.

For those who haven’t tried Times crosswords before, there’s a reason they’re renowned– fresh vocabulary and interesting clues. And don’t be intimidated by their reputation. The difficulty varies depending on the day of the week and there are plenty of easier Monday and Tuesday puzzles for beginners as they work up to the later days of the week.

Besides a massive set of some of the best crosswords available, you get a great user interface too. The puzzles can be panned and zoomed, allowing you to fit either the entire grid or a small portion of it on the bottom screen. On the top screen, in large print, is the current clue and corresponding letter boxes. There are a number of ways to navigate around the puzzle using touch or button controls, making it easy to hop around. And best of all there’s a small box on the touch screen for handwriting recognition (a pop-up keyboard is available too), allowing you to write in your answers with the stylus. The hand-writing recognition could be a little bit quicker, but other than that it functions beautifully.

There are plenty of play options too. You can pick out a crossword from any date among the several year span of puzzles in the game (roughly March 2004 to November 2006), you can play a Monday to Sunday week of randomly selected puzzles, and there are several wireless (not WFC internet) multiplayer options to play head-to-head or cooperatively with friends.

All in all this is a brilliantly executed and deep package of some of the best crossword puzzles on Earth. I consider it a must-have for any crossword fan.

Customer Review : Mario Party DS

June 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I would like to post some Customer Review for Mario Party in Nintendo DS.  Mario and his friends are shrunk down for the game and this causes once harmless locations to take on a bigger challenge. Play in five different game boards, such as Wiggler’s Garden and Toadette’s Music Room. The ultimate goal is to stop Bowser and his latest plan. He seeks five crystals and shrinks down the characters so they can’t stop him. Each of the players wants to be the one and only that brings down Bowser.

Mario Party DS brings the popular Mario board game series to a different handheld, and does deliver. There are over 70 different mini-games that range well from the simple use of the stylus, to the button mashing we all loved from before. There are five differnet boards for you to play on ranging from Toadette’s Music Room, to Wiggler’s Garden, the caterpillar from Super Mario 64, and many more to play with. There are also so many games to play around with that take full advantage of the Nintendo DS like more boss battles like Hexoskeleton, where you have to knock down a king-sized Dry Bones, to his knees by kicking fruits at him, to make him spill down to the floor, or the all-new Rotisserie Rampage, where one player is spinning the meat the other three players are on top of, as you try to roast them out to dry.

The World Ends With You

June 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment

From the creators of the award-winning Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts franchises comes a revolutionary, modern action-RPG title for a new generation of gamers. Square Enix and Jupiter team up once again to showcase The World Ends With You, a trendy and vibrant gaming experience developed exclusively for the Nintendo DS. Featuring an intuitive combat system and exciting multiplayer mode, The World Ends With You is set to immerse gamers into the modern-day culture of Japan.

Square Enix comes out of nowhere with The World Ends With You, which ends up not only being a spectacular RPG, but also ends up being one of the absolute best games available for the DS. Taking place in Tokyo, you start out playing as Neku, and are forced to complete tasks. Failing to do so will do nothing more than just erase you from history is all. Though you can’t really tell from that small synopsis, The World Ends With You features a dynamic and engaging storyline that draws you in, as well as some rich characterizations. The first thing you’ll probably notice is that the game features some simply gorgeous art design and stylish presentation. The game also features an innovative and easy to get into combat system that is a breath of fresh air for portable RPG’s, and the uses of the touch screen are wonderfully done as well. As a whole, The World Ends With You makes great use of the DS’ technical aspects, possibly the best uses that a third party game has done for the system yet. If there are any drawbacks to The World Ends With You, it lies in the game’s Tin Pin Slammers mode. While it is just a fun little extra, there isn’t really much to it. Other than that though, nearly everything else here is flawless: the music, the character animation, the effects; things couldn’t be much better. All in all, it’s rare that a game like The World Ends With You comes out of the blue and ends up being something so special. That alone makes the game worth owning, and here’s hoping that this is the start of a bold new franchise that can only get better and better from this point forward.

Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day!

June 2, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I would like to review why this product is top selling in Amazon, lot of Nintendo DS gamers bought this game. Brain Age 2: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day for Nintendo DS is a fun, rewarding game that helps you flex your mental muscles with quick activities that help keep your brain in shape. Brain Age is inspired by the research of Dr. Ryuta Kawashima, a prominent Japanese neuroscientist. His studies evaluated the impact of performing certain reading and mathematic exercises to help stimulate the brain.

You can read some review as following.

“That wacky brain doctor is back with 17 new mental minigames in Brain Age 2, and whether you’re doling out dimes, quarters, and nickels or counting a runner’s ever-changing place in a footrace, they all provide a nice intellectual workout — much more so than the original. In this way, it’s a big improvement; few of these struck me as too easy, and it’s now harder to quickly ace the tests and rocket right up to the ideal brain age of 20. I vastly prefer Rock Paper Scissors, where you have to call out the winning (or losing) move in the game, to the original game that had you calling out the color you saw on a screen. And Serial Subtraction, in which you subtract a particular number over and over again, also felt like it was genuinely challenging my brain instead of the original’s too-basic arithmetic.”
